The Executive Board of Directors of the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association recently took action to discontinue the Minnesota State Veterinary Technician Exam. Starting in 2010 there will not be a MN state exam, nor will passing the state exam be required for certification in Minnesota. In addition, starting in 2010 those wishing to be certified in Minnesota must successfully pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam and complete a certification application. The application will need to be submitted to the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association along with a $50.00 certification fee and either a copy of a diploma or official transcripts showing graduation from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technician program.
